Chinese Brush Painting
- Students learn fundamental skills in Chinese Brush Painting, including color application, water density and brush strokes.

Primary Instruction: Chinese Brush Painting
Since moving to Quincy in 2009, artist Mr. Xiao Yong Liu is an active instructor of beginner and intermediate Chinese Brush Painting at the Quincy Asian Resources and Chinese Guangdong Music Research Association. In 2011, he successfully held exhibitions of his works and those of his students at the Thomas Crane Public Library. He is known for his ability to coach young students in recognizing the features of Chinese Brush Painting, in mastering the techniques of using the Chinese brush and in the application of colors. A member of the New England Chinese Painting and Artist Association, Mr. Liu's coursework features the use of tools and materials, single, double and triple bamboo painting techniques, contrast techniques in Chinese ink colors, dragonfly painting techniques, fish painting techniques and brush techniques. Many of his students are prize winners of Chinese Brush Painting competitions, including the Foundation for Chinese Performing Arts Brush Painting and Calligraphy Competitions. Ms. Yaling Liu received her training and certificate as a Senior Chinese Language Teacher from the International Profession Certification Association. She received training in Mandarin Teaching Practice, Mandarin Teaching Theory, Modern Chinese Language and Chinese culture. A graduate of Hunan Normal University majoring in Chinese Journalism, she previously worked at Xiaoxiang Morning Paper publishing over thirty press releases. During her work at Shenzhen Silver Star Investment Corporation, Ms. Liu acted as the Executive Director of the company's internal newspaper, overseeing and leading the publishing of the newspaper's contents from interviewing to writing to formatting. She is also experienced in being a Chinese emcee, having hosted a variety of media, corporate and educational events. Ms. Liu currently joins Focal Chinese Music as a Chinese language (native track) and art teacher.
